Gold production in China in the I quarter rose slightly

05 May 2016
Gold production in China in the first quarter of 2016 increased due to the increase in the price of the metal on the world market, according to China Gold Association. Gold production increased in the reporting period by 0.78% YoY up to 111.56 tons . Gold consumption in China amounted to 318.28 tons in the first quarter - by 3.91% less than in the same period of 2015. Decrease in gold consumption is associated mainly with a noticeable decrease in gold jewelry sales.
Gold reserves in China reached, according to the Association, by the end of March 2016 the volume of 1797.5 tons.
