Turkey in January-July increased gold imports by 18%

Turkey increased gold imports in January-July 2016 by 17.7% to 30.157 tons compared to the same period of 2015, according to Istanbul Gold Exchange (IGE).
However, according to information provided by the Business News Agency PRIME, in July 2016 the country imported 4,894 tons of gold against 15.118 tons for the same month of 2015 (-67.6%).
Silver imports in January-July dropped by 8.8% to 166.9 tons, while, in July the volume of imported precious metal has not changed and amounted to 2.92 tons.
Turkey exports gold jewelry to more than 100 countries around the world, the main markets are the USA, UAE, Italy, Germany, Russia, Spain and Israel.
In 2015, Turkey has reduced the import of gold by 62.9% to 48.7 tons, silver imports rase by 14.8% to 260.9 tons.
